We are a family-owned operation located in Beaufort County NC. We host some of the finest hunting grounds up and down the coast line of North Carolina for black bear. We hunt in swamps, poccosons, thickets, briar patches and more! We are one of the only legal live feeding operations in North Carolina, guaranteeing you a fun adventure on your bear hunt.
You will be hunting over some of the finest bear dogs North Carolina has to offer. Our black bears are some of the largest in the world. Because of the abundance of agriculture, it allows the bears to grow to where the cold does not bother them and they do not hibernate or go into torpor. This means our bears eat year-round and simply grow! Our bears put on roughly 100-150 pounds per year on average with the expectation of a 3 year old bear weighing in around 300-450 pounds!
David Collins and team cater their trips to guests who have the physical ability to walk and move for long periods of time. Eastern Primal enjoys teaching new hunters the tricks of the trade, so no matter if you are experienced or novice, be prepared for action and fun.
Customers who possess a valid hunting license for North Carolina with a Bear E-Stamp are welcome to book!
David and team enjoy making home-cooked meals for you during your stay. Enjoy locally sourced foods such as steak, vegetables, desserts and more.
David is well versed in skinning, gutting, processing and packing big game so you are in good hands for your upcoming guided bear hunt.
Your guide can teach you about spotting, tracking, feeding schedules dog training and so much more. Your hunting adventures is more than a hunt, it's an experience!

Briar proof clothing is a good idea.
Snake proof boots and rubber boots are a must.
Our fall and winter weather is usually mild in temperature and wet.
Your hunting license and bear management E-Stamp can be obtained at www.ncwrc.org.
An orange hat, cap, jacket or shirt is required for all hunters.
Bug spray is sometimes needed depending on temp.
The hunter should be able to physically navigate their way through rough terrain. Standing for long periods and crawling and be expected.
Iron sights on your weapon only (no scopes) as we are only shooting a few yards in the tree or a few yards away on the ground. A 30 cal or larger weapon is preferred. Examples include: 30-30, .35rem, 20 or 12 gauge slug, 444 Marlin, 45-70gov, 44mag to name a few.
If you need a weapon provided we will provide you with one free of charge. Come ready with two large cooler. One cooler for the meat, one cooler for the hide.
Arrive 1 day prior to season opening date so you can settle in!
